The Hippocampe was named the best crêperie in Normandie for its gourmet galettes and succulent crêpes. At the helm are Arnaud Demay and Fabrice Michel; at their side is Vodka, their four-legged mascot. After 30 years in Parisian restaurants, they found their haven of peace in 2021 in Saint-Pair-sur-Mer, midway between their Norman and Breton roots. “We fell in love with the place as soon as we saw it,” says Arnaud. Everything is fresh, and mostly local, like the andouille sausage and artisanal ice cream. “We even have tomato-basil ice cream in summer, and camembert ice cream to go with the andouille galette,” says Fabrice. The welcoming atmosphere blends thrifted finds with nods to their Parisian background. Open year-round for lunch and dinner, except Mondays and Tuesdays.
