Le Scriptorial d'Avranches
Since 2006, the Scriptorial has preserved the medieval manuscripts of Mont Saint-Michel and Avranches. Combining heritage, exhibitions and immersive expe- riences, it remains a unique gateway to the history of the Bay. Highlights Bérengère: The illumination of Saint Michael and Bishop Aubert, telling the story of Mont Saint-Michel’s foundation. David: The 11th-century vaulted cellar, linking past and present. Architecture A striking building where contemporary design meets historic remains. Bergevin Garden A green extension of the museum, connecting nature, manuscripts and local heritage. The Future A museum rooted in its territory, bringing together collections, history and local life. Favourite Objects A prehistoric flint and a 1944 shell fragment for David; the wooden book sculpture by Jean-Claude Tessier for Bérengère. Temporary exhibition until 31 December 2026: Gone with Time A museum that lives with its region, not alongside it.
