Hortense Artisan Tapissier
Hortense Bonamy, 28, is giving new life to old armchairs, blending contemporary rigor with the handicraft of yesteryear. She opened her workshop in Moult in January 2025 after an impressive track record in chair upholstery and sewing. “I had the fortune of having a professor who worked at the Château de Versailles. He spoiled me for taste,” she says. An internship with an upholsterer cemented her calling. In Normandy, she found the perfect canvas: Hortense loves working for clients with stud farms, châteaux, and manors, as they are fellow furniture enthusiasts. Today, she restores armchairs of any era with fabric from Maisons d’Éditions: “Their collections are simple, elegant, a bit country-chic.” Thanks to her award-winning talent, Hortense also works wonders on curtains and cushions.
