In her workshop–boutique, upholsterer and furniture tailor Hortense Bonamy blends the craft of yesteryear and the materials of today with keen advice. She opened her workshop in Moult in January 2025 after an exceptional academic career in upholstery. “My professor worked at the Château de Versailles. He gave me an appreciation for beautiful things,” says Hortense, 29. Bringing this appreciation into her client’s homes, she takes time to listen, observe, and give advice, a custom approach that turns customers into loyal clients. Her collections change according to her whims, between timeless and audacious: Louis XVI armchairs cozy up to fabrics by Jab, Romo, and Nobilis. “I want this to be a living space, a bit like at home, but with the demanding nature of a real showroom.” As a skilled upholsterer and furniture tailor (she was named Best Apprentice in France), Hortense is making a name for herself at her workshop, where know-how is shared with heart and elegance.
