Hôtel Flaubert

On the famous Trouville boardwalk, facing the ever-changing horizon, Hôtel Flaubert is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year. Built in 1936 and taken over in 2021 by Pierre-Antoine Capton and Jean-Philippe Cartier, the hotel’s neo-Norman architecture sits in harmony with the beach, the sea, and the shifting skies of the Normandy coast. More than a hotel, it feels like a true seaside holiday home. Manager Renaud Magnoux carefully cultivates the spirit of a family house where generations return to make memories by the water’s edge. “We want our guests to feel as if they’re coming back to their own seaside home, the one they dream about all year long and are always happy to return to” he says. In the 31 rooms and suites, the décor blends antique finds with contemporary touches. Yellow raincoats hanging by the door recall breezy seaside walks, beach toys await young guests, and the hotel’s literary bar invites visitors to linger with a book, carried along by the rhythm of the tides. Each year, the Flaubert Award, a literary prize organized by the hotel, reminds guests that the most beautiful escapes are sometimes found in the pages of a book.
